I only have a few on my list; a list of somewhat the worst and painfully unwatchable films. Sadly, Ndoto za Elibidi is one. First, the apparent ndoto isn't well defined. Is going to Nairobi the dream, or is it breeding kids who'll grow up to give him a better life?
Second, the story line is all over the place.
The way they make a character play two very different and unrelatable roles is insane, like we the audience wouldn't notice. How messed up is that?
The film portrays a level of Ushamba that's beyond imagination - it's not funny, relatable or sensible.
Bad scripting.
Casting was off.
Worst of all, Ndoto za Elibidi paints the same old backward picture that's gets you funding so long as you tell a story that showcases Africa as a poor diseased slum deeply infested with HIV Aids.
Though the film embraces this edgy blend of play, drama and documentary and highlights very serious issues, unfortunately, it was very much incapable of articulating them.
