PLAN B

I’m not gonna lie, there aren’t that many good Kenyan films to love and recommend, but, 2019’s Plan B was a major Hit.

Simple storyline: Lisa’s boyfriend dumps her for being too nice, she gets drunk and has a one night stand with a rich Nigerian guy (Dele Coker), gets pregnant, starts the search for him to take responsibility, of course there are a few hates and loves between the two thereafter , and when she’s done with the drama, she seeks solace in her grandma back in shags.

I liked that it’s short: Just 1 hour long...makes you wish it was a little longer.

Sort of good script and with incredible acting from Catherine Kamau.  She always has a way of adding some local color that makes everything she stars in real and relatable.

Music / Soundtracks:  Good. It's all African.

Random shots of Nairobi: Perfect.

A few Notable Highs: Lisa and Cate’s house is very normal looking.  It was also a plus to see someone wakeup in the morning with shaggy hair, no make up on and in a messy bed.

The Lows: Lisa was horrible playing the bar scene - where she's drunk, the doctor was too fake, the radio Dele Coker gifts Lisa is definitely not antique as he alleged, what is it with talking in dollars when doing business in Kenyan soil and, the receptionist part, that was the worst (watch below).

Overall, I loved the film, and if you haven't watched it, you should!

Sarah Hassan is a great producer and actress I must say, and would absolutely love to see more work from LowlaDee.
