To the modern woman, female empowerment has been a Game Changer. Her sisters from the earlier to the 20th Centuries would be so proud and a tad jealous of how wonderfully her life has become.
She can choose who and when to marry, can bear whichever number of kids she wishes, go to school, get a job, vote, dress however she wants, own property…
Despite all this, we have a long way to go to achieve basic decent human treatment…and if there’s one thing that can help you get almost there is being self-employed.
Why?

Earn what you Deserve: Being your own boss means dictating how much you’re worth, and rewarding yourself for the work you put in, not what someone decides you’re worth – especially not someone who believes women should make less.
Make your own hours: Dictating when to open and close shop is a joy very few get to experience in this lifetime. You can be the early bird or a night owl - whatever befits you and your business.
Enjoy motherhood: Self employment is most perfect for mothers. You get to be a mother to your kid (s) unlike the employed who have to leave the parenting to the nannies and send the older kids to boarding schools.
No sexual harassment: This is never spoken enough about. The bigotry in offices that is in constant demand for sexual favors and if you stand your ground, you’re deemed rude and hard to work with thus prone to layoffs, poor wage and lack of promotion - No more of that crap.
Be the Boss: Damn, it feel good to be the boss, and no jealous whisperings of how you got there.
Dress however you want: The nasty tasteless and uncomfortable skirt and trouser suits exit your wardrobe. Now, you can be stylish, comfortable and wear what compliments your body without ‘making your male colleagues uncomfortable.’
Quality Sleep: No more early morning alarms. No more dashing to the stage and fighting for matatus. No more trying to beat the heavy morning traffic. You get to sleep in, get quality sleep, watch the sunrise, experience a nice long shower, enjoy your breakfast and start your day on a high note - exceedingly rejuvenated and optimistic.
